The Giving Heart – Sandy Snakenberg

Sandy Snakenberg is a 55 year old fitness coach and artist, who has been residing in Singapore for the past 14 years. “The Bubble Pirate” as he is affectionately known, is a strong believer in being different. In fact, Sandy has been setting records both internationally and locally when it comes to challenges. His records include being part of a six-men Singapore cycling team that broke the Guinness World Record in 2009 for the “Greatest Static Cycling Distance in 24 hours. In 1999, he was a world record holder for speed skating, covering the longest distance in 24 hours.

With appreciation and positivity in all life has to offer, Sandy is addicted to giving and sharing of joy through something of a positive nature – Bubbles. Known for being a giver towards animals and individuals with special needs, Sandy has recently earned his title as a “Bubbleologist” or a bubble artist. Combining science and “magic”, he is often seen at public places performing his artistry while letting his bubbles do the talking.

Creating his very own persona as a bubble-blower in a pirate outfit, Sandy uses bubbles to interact with people. What started out as an experiment soon became an act that received positive reactions from the general public. Sandy wanted to use this art form as a way to express his emotions and share joy with the community.

He describes bubbles as magical, saying, “Bubbles are therapeutic and it encourages people to interact with it. That is the magic. Connections are built without people being aware of it. It evokes a sense of childlike wonder in people and slowly unleashes the inner child in all of us.”

He adds, “Bubbles are mesmerizing and it brings people together, allowing our imagination to run free. Many people had come up to me telling me how I have made their day while some have offered me hugs. This is exactly the reason of “The Bubble Pirate”. He sees everyone as unique, so don’t be afraid to be different.”

“Let’s get caught in the moment, and experience the magic of connection.”
