On 11 September 2016, Big Big Heart, together with 22 Heartists, were at Chinatown to support Mediacorp at the Charity Mid-Autumn Walk.
The annual fundraiser which was organised by Mediacorp, marked the celebration of togetherness as a community and most importantly, to engage the public in a show of support for a meaningful cause to aid the needy.
In support of Big Big Heart’s “SaveMummy” campaign – an awareness campaign focused on fostering healthy marriages and a stand against domestic violence – this year’s charity walk will help raise funds through the sales of lanterns, of which the proceeds will be donated to a crisis shelter that houses families who are victims of domestic abuse.
By 6.30pm, a large crowd has already gotten in on the festive mood as they started to build up along New Bridge Road. The event was hosted by deejays from Mediacorp mandarin radio stations, with several Mediacorp artistes also arriving at the scene to show their support for the cause.
Big Big Heart’s founder, Ben Yeo, was present to address and thank the public and volunteers for their kind donations and commitment towards this meaningful event as he shared on the objective of “SaveMummy” campaign and its beneficiary.
The night began with a series of street performances such as dragon dance and luminious stilt walkers. The festive crowd, consisting of families and foreign friends of all ages were also led to a lantern walk along Chinatown, which ended with a finale display of synchronized fireworks show.
The fundraiser showed tremendous public support and tireless efforts from the volunteers and organisers as all festive packs were sold out within 2 hours.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Big Big Heart would like to thank all the kind contributors, the volunteers and Mediacorp, for making this event a truly meaningful and significant effort as a community.
